Employees now entitled to free legal advice for unlawful terminations |
A new service announced by the Commonwealth Government will entitle employees who believe their employment may have been terminated unlawfully to receive up to $4000 worth of independent legal advice, and will provide education and training programmes to employers. |
In order to qualify to receive the free advice, employees will need to:
- Be assessed as having financial need;
- Obtain a certificate from the Australian Industrial Relations Commission stating that their claim has merit.
|
| Employees who have met the need and merit qualifications, will then be referred to a member of a legal panel who will provide the free advice. |
