Tour de France Tour de CBD Breakfast at Clark McNamara Lawyers - 14 July 2010 |
Cyclists arrived at the Clark McNamara Lawyers boardroom with eyes glazed and muscles aching from late nights watching the Tour de France to hear City of Sydney CEO Ms Monica Barone address us on those perennial questions affecting our CBD community. Lycra or tweed? Roadie or Fixie? Cycleway or Roadway?
Our breakfast was proudly supported by Cranks Bikes http://www.cranksbikes.com.au

CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic 2010 |
The CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic 2010 took place on a perfect sunny Sunday in June, despite gloomy weather predictions. This year's event attracted a record 1,100 entrants, 700 of whom were bike riders. Participants rode or ran the scenic Oaks Fire Trail through the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park, from the town of Woodford down to the Euroka Clearing near Glenbrook. The event finished with a community fair-style reception in the Euroka Clearing where families enjoyed the fun with rides for the kids, food stalls, a Rural Fire Services display, race commentary and trophy presentations. |
Peter McNamara completed the 25 kilometre off road course in 65 minutes. He rode with the Easy Riders team of Sydney bicycle commuters, the star of which was Larri Brittan of Remington Search who completed the course in 53 minutes and was the fastest female rider. Fellow Easy Riders Dominic Curtain and Robert Cain bettered Larri's time with 50 and 52 minutes respectively, but were not able to pip her at the post in the gender stakes. |
More than $30,000 was raised for Careflight by the event. The Clark McNamara Team raised $1830 for CareFlight and was the Highest Team Fundraiser for the event thanks to the generous support of clients, friends and neighbours - see: http://www.gofundraise.com.au/CML |

Ride for a Reason - Sydney to Bowral 26 September 2009 - Westmead Children's Hospital |
Peter McNamara joined an intrepid group riding from Sydney to Bowral in aid of The Children's Hospital at Westmead. . By participating in this century (100 miles or 160kms) ride via Macquarie Pass the cyclists raised funds through individual sponsorship and donations. The 2009 Ride for a Reason was a huge success raising over $47,000 for the Children's Hospital, Westmead. |
Peter left Centennial Park in a dust storm, battled gusty cross winds down the south coast and just survived the Macquarie Pass ascent and rain and sleet to attend the Tulip Time fundraiser dinner in Bowral that evening. The Bowral Tulip Time Committee and the Children's Hospital at Westmead thanked the cyclists for their efforts. The nephrologist from the Children's Hospital who spoke at the Bowral dinner was compelling as she described the kidney research at the hospital. She is one of the many clinicians at the Children's Hospital pursuing research for the benefit of kids and families with medical problems, so the donations will be well applied. |
