Pro Bono for Not for Profit Organisations
We see it as our responsibility to help groups that themselves support the needy and charitable causes. We will work for organisations for no or discounted fees where the organisation has charitable objects, in particular objects that support the disadvantaged. For example, we assist with incorporation of and structuring advice to charitable companies (usually companies limited by guarantee). Unfortunately, our core expertise is commercial and property work, and are unable to accept requests from individuals for pro bono legal services. We recommend that individuals contact firms with the experience and skills to deal with their legal needs.
Community Support
CML supports community fundraising events. The CML Lawyers Team has been in the top 100 team fundraisers for the 10,000 strong Sydney to Wollongong bicycle ride. Our team and another 10,000 riders raised over $600,000 for those living with Multiple Sclerosis. Some brave staff members also faced off in the “Movember” moustache growing competition to raise funds for research into male depression, through Beyond Blue, and for research into prostate cancer. We have also raised funds for TEAR Fund (Australia) Developing Countries Aid Fund with monthly contributions by members of staff. We support Marrickville Legal Centre https://www.mlc.org.au/ and Toongabbie Legal Centre https://www.tlc.asn.au/ in their excellent work.
